Bridge to MassChallenge Taiwan is an international startup competition that identifies and accelerates the top startups from across the world, and connects those startups to the global market and MassChallenge's global network.

 

Who are we?

Bridge to MassChallenge Taiwan (B2MC Taiwan) is a collaboration between MassChallenge and the Linkou Startup Terrace, under support from Taiwan’s Small and Medium Enterprise Administration (SMEA), Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), to catalyze and support an Asian regional startup community in Taiwan.

Through Bridge to MassChallenge Taiwan, MassChallenge has teamed up with the Inspiring Super IdeasBE Capital & Accelerator and DCB to support entrepreneurs as they develop and execute on game-changing ideas, technologies, and discoveries.

Who can participate?

We look for entrepreneurs who want to take their businesses to the next level. We accept applications from:

  • Startups in Asia and all over the world interested in leveraging Taiwan’s ICT manufacturing, healthcare, insurance-tech and agri-food strengths.
  • Early and growth-stage startups
  • With a validated product/ service and market traction (generated revenues are preferable, but not required)

The official language of the program is English, and the applicant must be proficient in English.

When is the program? (See detailed timeline below)

  • February 11 2019: Applications open
  • March 22 2019: Applications close
  • April 10 2019: Semi-final Announcement
  • April 15 2019: Orientation
  • May 26-29 2019: Boot camp in Taipei & Top 10 Selection
  • October 2019: Boot camp in Boston & Final Pitch Competition

What's in it for startups?

Following an international application process, selected startups will participate in intensive, multi-day boot camps in Taipei and Boston where startups will receive:

Selected startups receive: 
  • Free startup bootcamp in Taiwan during COMPUTEX
  • Free 4-month acceleration program in Taiwan
  • Free co-working space and single-room accommodation per team in Taiwan
  • Travel stipend of $2,000 USD for each of the Top 10 Teams to travel to Boston bootcamp
  • Top 2 startups enter the fast-track to MassChallenge Boston or Israel semifinals
  • Mentoring from top local & international experts
  • Access to Taiwanese ICT manufacturing insurance-tech and healthcare / agri-food resources
  • Tailored training and workshops
  • One-on-one mentorship from top local and international experts
  • Support in scaling their business to global markets
  • Networking opportunities
  • Unique access to the cities’ business ecosystems

The semi-finalist teams will attend the Taiwan boot camp, to be held in May 2019, which will culminate in a pitch competition. The top 14 teams from this competition will win a free 4 month acceleration period in Taipei and a trip to Boston, USA, and participate in a week-long boot camp at the MassChallenge headquarters in October 2019. 

 


 

The top 14 startups selected to participate in the Boston boot camp: 

AESOP medicine (Taiwan): AESOP provide an AI software that identifies and predicts prescription errors and create a win-win solution for physicians and patients.

AetherAI (Taiwan) aetherAI is a pathology-focused AI development platform, allowing every hospitals to build their own medical image AI models. 

Guzip Biomarkers Corp. (Taiwan): We are dedicated in finding novel DNA methylation biomarkers for clinical applications.

ID Water (Taiwan): We focus on creating unmanned shrimp farms through AI and IOT technologies and assisting farmers to increase their average harvest by 400%.

Longgood (Taiwan): LONGGOOD is the first interactive rehabilitation software development company in Taiwan.

MeansGood (Taiwan): MeansGood is just like the Aerofarms in the Chinese herbal medicine cultivation industry.

MedFluid (Taiwan): To deal with abuse of antibiotics, we use microfluidic to build personalized antibiotics screening platform that is faster and more precise.

MTAMTech Corporation (Taiwan): Cost effective, accurate (similar to gold standard), rapid and reliable anti-cancer drug screening for personalized medicine and drug dev.

Phood (USA): Phood is food waste prevention technology that helps food businesses reduce food waste by up to 50% and create cost savings of $100,000/yr 

PurCity (Denmark): Turning Buildings into Large Scale Air Purification Systems

Saathi (India): 100% Biodegradable & Compostable all-natural sanitary pads made from Banana fiber

Seknova Biotechnology (Taiwan): The Seknova System is the only continuous diabetes monitoring system that offers triple monitoring for early detection of complications.

 

Team8 (France): Connectable watch for kids combining FUN, Health, Education and Security. 1st health platform dedicated for kids behind a cool game for all.

Weav-Air (Canada): WeavAir offers advanced sensors & predictive analytics solution to save energy & reduce costs of high value air distribution systems.
